Hi
When trying to create prismatic boundary layer I receive an error: can someone please explain the following error and how I would go about rectifying it: "Netgen stopped with the following error:Stop meshing since boundary mesh is overlapping." I have successfully completed this step in the tutorials; I presume the geometry is too complex for engrid in this case?> attached is an image of the case: I intend to evaluate human comfort and boundary layer along the human head and extremities is of importance: hope to hear from you soon kind regards g Last edited by eaglemckenna; July 22, 2014 at 10:56. When you have a narrow channel you need a proportional fine mesh because the layer thickness is going to be relative to the surface mesh size. We can see big differences between your mesh that is not compatible with a layer addition. I can recommend a refinement using a geometric source. Would be really cool if Engrid had a refinement due proximity.

Hi
Thanks for your response. I have managed to change the geometry to include improved enhanced features and mesh - I can create a prismatic boundary layer, but when I try to divide the layer I once again receive the "there seems to be a bug in engrid" error, so once I attempt to improve volume mesh (netgen) I once again receive the overlapping faces error - I would be most grateful for some guidance (see attached - geometry with prismatic boundary layer) kind regards g Last edited by eaglemckenna; July 25, 2014 at 11:21. |

Sorry guys - I managed to sort the problem -the domain was causing the problem - see attached - I will let you know the results - should be interesting!

Hello,
i'm having the exact same problem with my geometry. I did all the steps according to the 'damper' tutorial including edge and border zone refinement using sources. BUT when i want to create the prismatic boundary layer it gives me the "Netgen stopped because of overlapping faces" error. I'm not sure what to do now. Can u or anyone help me with this ?!! See attached my geometry Last edited by BlnPhoenix; July 21, 2015 at 05:03. |

it's just a guess but I think he means the geometry he started with. For example you have to check on your surface normals, watertightness, et cetera.. Best regards, Kate |
