Hello

I am working on a project where an .ifc geometry should be used for CFD simulation. This requires converting the geometry to .stp or .iges.
If I convert the geometry to an stl I loose all information on boundaries and surfaces which I would like to conserve.
The only solution I found so far is to import an IFC file into blender and then prepare the geometry for enGrid with the export plugin. But enGrid has high limits on geometry "dirtiness" so I couldn't import any complex models yet.
Is there a way to preserve the .stp informations on boundaries and correct the CAD geometry for import in engrid with another tool, I am limited to opensource tools for this projects.

Thanks in advance
Yannic

Hi Yannic,

I am also looking for a solution to this problem. I have the building BIM model and I am exporting it as *.ifc, now I want to keep the pysical attributes of the model to use them as the boundary conditions in the CFD analysis.

If you have found any solution to this problem then can you please share it here?

Kind regards,
Rajat
