Hi guys...in Ensight how can i turn on the interpolation in order to be able to see smooth color functions?

Michael,

There are actually two ways to do this...one a graphics option, and the other a more rigorous computational option.

Graphics Option : Edit -- > Preferences -- > Color Palettes. Turn on the toggle for "Use Continuous Palette for per-element variables". If you save this option to your preference file, then obvious all subsequent runs of EnSight will have this effect too.

Computational option: Select the part(s) in question (probably all parts in your case), and Open up the Calculator. The PreDefined Function "ElemToNode" will calculate a nodal variable based on the elemental variable that you specify. Then, color by this new "nodal" variable, rather than elemental variable. This is more precise option, but must also be done for each variable that you desire, and each session of EnSight.

Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.

Kevin

Hi Kelvin,

How does the graphical option work? Does Ensight take the values at the center of each element and use them to interpolate between the elements?

Cheers

The graphical option does it as a setting in the rendering given the color bands. Nothing is done to the actual element or nodal values... it is just a graphics rendering tweak.
