Splitting domain onto several parts
 

Hello,

I have a domain which I want to split onto several parts and calculate the mass-average temperature and heat flux across the boundary for each part. Can I do this in Ensight, and if I can, how? I already posted my problem in other section of this forum (http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...eparation.html), but there wasn't any response... I found how I can split the mesh in Fluent, but it is a very, very hard and long solution, so I think that in EnSight it can be done easier and faster.

Yes, you can separate the domain by using the Plane, Box, Cylinder, etc tools. Rather than "intersect", you can choose the "inside" or "outside" options. This will create a NEW part, consisting the parent part(s) which reside inside/outside of the tool. For the Plane tool, this means on the positive or negative side of the plane.
You can also use the IsoVolume tool, if the restriction in domain is by variable (eg temperature, pressure, coordinate direction). The IsoVolume uses an upper and lower bound constraints, and will generate a new Part with the same dimensionality as the parent.
