2D axisymmetric force post-processing

Hello,

I've run a transient 2D axisymmetric simulation with FLUENT and now I want to post-process the results with EnSight.
I have manage to do great animation with animated plot but I want to calculate force on parts. I have follow the EnSight help "Calculation of Pressure Lift and Drag" but the results are still different than Fluent's results.
I think that the problem comes from the fact that EnSight doesn't take into account that the simulations are axisymmetric.

Does anyone have already post-process axisymmetric simulation within EnSight?

Hi Alex,

How much different are the results you get in EnSight and Fluent?
Up to a difference of a few %, it can be explained by how the data are exported from Fluent into Ensight. Watch this screenshot movie where one of our engineer explains the best way to get forces (and quantities to calculate the forces) from Fluent to EnSight:

If the difference is higher, then it may be due to the fact that EnSight doesn't know that the model is supposed to be axi-symmetric. In this case, you will need to change the equations used in the article

by the correct factor. For example, in point 3. you are summing the force components for all the elements of the model part to get the total Force on the part. If the model part represents half of the actual part you are studying, multiply the result by a factor of 2 (as you are making the sum on only half of the "real" part).
