Meshing with IGG

1 Attachment(s)
Hallo,

i have a quick question regarding a mesh of a face in IGG. Is it possible to creat a better mesh, for example with clustering, for this quadrant (picture)?

Thanks

Yes, the mesh quality in the yellow-marked region is inacceptable concerning skewness. I marked with red lines my idea of blocking for this problem. Surely its not perfect but much better than using just one block. Maybe you get some inspiration from my example how you can improve your mesh.

In general you increase the clustering near the wall to be able to capture the boundary layer of the flow. You just use a uniform node distribution along the edges.

Kind regards,
Holger

The butterfly topology is made for this purpose.

If your project is a 2D project indeed it is not possible to use the butterfly topology function in IGG. But in a 2D project it is easy to make blocks in the same way as the butterfly topology does. The sketches in the IGG User Guide show examples of what the butterfly topology looks like in a 2D cirkel. It consists of 5 areas for a full circle but in your case you need only 2 or 3 blocks. A bit similar to what DarylMusashi was giving as an example.
