Export boundary conditions in CGNS with AutoGrid5

Hi all!

For a mysterious reason, when I save a project, boundary conditions are not saved in the CGNS file.
But when colleagues of mine load and re-save the same project without changing a thing, they all have boundary conditions in the CGNS file...
They don't remember to have checked a particular option or added some files or libraries.

Does anyone have an idea how to figure that out?

Thanks :)

Hi Alan,
have you tried to inspect your cgns file with an external program, like ADFViewer? In AutoGrid5 the boundary conditions are saved in the .bcs file, which is written along with the .cgns file.

"The boundary condition file (.bcs file) is used to export the boundary condition settings of each patch of a grid, defined with the Grid/Boundary Conditions... menu."

I use CGNSview to inspect the file and that is how I saw that the BC where not in the file. If I open the CGNS file of my colleague with CGNSview, the ZoneGridConnectivity and ZoneBC are visible in the tree but not in my file. I have the .bcs file in the directory but it doesn't seem to be read by CGNSview.
I can't find any information in the user manual of AutoGrid. There is no difference in the igg.preferences file that would suggest a different behaviour during the export.

Which version of AutoGrid5 are you using?
Look in the manual for the option "Save CGNS patch info"
This should of course be activated to have the patch information in the cgns file.

I am using version 9.1-3. I have the option checked and the following code in the igg.preferences file :
Code:

          NI_BEGIN niparameter
          VERSION                    1.0
          NAME                        CGNS_patch_info_saving
          GLOBAL                      no
          TYPE                        INTEGER
          EXPERT                      no
          NUMBER                      1
          VALUE                      1
          NI_END  niparameter
          NI_BEGIN niparameter
          VERSION                    1.0
          NAME                        CGNS_patch_info_saving_ansys
          GLOBAL                      no
          TYPE                        INTEGER
          EXPERT                      no
          NUMBER                      1
          VALUE                      1
          NI_END  niparameter

The files are identical with the one of my colleague.

Could it be linked to the cgns libraries that may be called? I don't know how it is implemented, if AutoGrid has its own packaging of the cgns API or if it requires an external installation.

That is quite an old version. Your colleague is using the same version?
Would be good to try with the most recent release. No separate external installation required.

It is our most recent release.
It seems to have been solved. But I have no idea how...

Thanks all :)

set as below:
Open "IGG"---"File"---"Preference"---"saving"
and then, tick "saving CGNS patch info/family name control"
hope that could help you!

Hello Misu,

is there a command for this which can be added to the script file so that it automatically changes the saving preference?

I had faced the same problem since my cgns file was not opening in GMC. And then I changed the saving preference and it worked.

Best Regards,

Parthiv
