Hexpress - Anisotropic refinement Diffusion

Hi,

I created a surface representing an aircraft wing. The cell size in the spanwise direction is 4 times bigger than the chordwise direction. Thus, in the surface refinement tab of Hexpress, the following settings were selected.
  • Target cell size (0.0 0.04 0.0)
  • max AR = 4
  • Diffusion depth = 6
The refinement level of the wing surface is one level lower than the LE surface and have an aspect ratio of 2 to preserve the spanwise cell size.

By looking on the generated mesh, I can see that the cells in the leading edge have the correct target size. However, the cells created by the diffusion process are isotropic !

When I changed the meshing strategy for the LE surface by using the curve refinement method and the same settings as above, the cells created by the diffusion process have now the correct aspect ratio.

Is there a reason for this difference ?

Problem solved by increasing the intrados/extrados diffusion depth to 4.
