Transient Properties for Fixed Flow Devices

Hello all

I wonder if anyone might be able to help me. I am currently using FloVENT 9.0 which I believe is very similar to FloTHERM.

I need to perform a transient analysis of a room containing heat sources to determine the rate of temperature rise in the space on failure of the ventilation system.

Does anyone know how I can apply a transient property to the fixed flow devices I am using to simulate the supply and extract grilles? I can see that I can apply a transient property to the supply air temperature but the fixed flow will still be supplying air to the space which will cause a 'stirred pot' environment. I need to understand how the room will perform under the still air conditions of the vent shutting off.

Any guidance or web info you could point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hello ,

If indeed the 2 products are similar than the way to do it in Flotherm (I only know flotherm) is to attach the transient to the ambient (you can create like 2-3 ambients; one for the initial room conditions, and one for the intake air...etc).
So the transient attachment to the fixed flow is like this: go to the "fixed flow" -> "Construction" tab -> "Ambient condition" (edit) -> "Ambient Transient" (Create New)

Best regards, Gabriel

Thanks Gabriel

I will give that a try
