Porous Medium Flow Simulation SolidWorks

2 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I am trying to do flow simulation with air traveling through a heated porous medium and then through an insulated tube. Dome shaped piece is porous medium, frustum and the tube are insulated. I built the pieces using revolve, and tried to run the flow simulation but SolidWorks gives an error "There is no solid in the project. Please check geometry or component control." I am fairly new to SolidWorks and don't know how to proceed.Would greatly appreciate any help.

SolidPart and Error message attached.

Thanks

Rishab

The problem is that you build a single body part and made the whole thing a porous medium. Basically, all you see is porous medium and you are applying an inlet onto a porous medium surface which is not an inlet but a porous medium.
It is best to either work with multi-body parts so the lid can be solid and the rest is a separate body which can then be the porous medium but then still the duct is also a porous medium and not just the top dome if that was the intention. The body is the smallest volume one can apply a volume boundary condition to it and if there is only one volume/body, then all of it will receive that condition.

Hope that helps,
Boris
