Changing the global coordinate system?
 

I applied the Point Parameters in Flow Simulation.

I want to change my global coordinate system. I want to move it, so that it is not in the middle of the Point Parameter plain, but at any of the Point Parameters plain corners.
Is that possible?

Can I change it?

Why do you need this? You can use a local coordinate system if it's just for the values you want to have a certain reference to.

When I import my data into Tecplot, I get pretty "ugly" coordinate 2d system (x,y). Instead of both axis beginning with 0, and ending with some positive number, both of my axis begin with negative number and end with positive number:

How can I use that local coordinate system i order for my 2d coordinate system in Tecplot to begin with 0?

Ok, you can create a user defined coordinate system in the reference geometries and use this for the point parameters. By default the coordinates are from the global coordinate system but you can add the parameters from the parameter list. They are called x (cartesian), y ..., z ... and then you have the possibility to select a different coordinate system.

Do I need to define a new coordinate system (Insert->Reference Geometry->Coordinate System) before I add the Cartesian X,Y,Z parameters in the Point Parameters list?

For some reason I am getting the same values for both global coordinate system and cartesian:

Can you get values referenced to a coordinate system that you haven't defined yet?

I had to click on "Global coordinate system" and then click on the newly created "Coordinate system 1". I got it.

moving coordinate system to center of 180 degree bend in flow 3d
 

Hi dears

I'm working on my these that is about simulated a 180 degree bend (U-shape) via Flow 3d software. So I have a question about coordinate axes. I need to put the coordinate axes in center of the bend. But in flow-3d, coordinate axis is in the corner not in the center. I should use cylindrical coordinates to simulate and after that I have to use this data for drawing contour and stream line via Tecplot. So it's necessary to me that put coordinate axes in the center of the bend.
I search a lot about moving coordinate axes in flow-3d but couldn't find any text and help about it. Can you help me?

it seems you are in the wrong Forum as this is for FloEFD/Floworks (Flow Simulation) from Solidworks and FloTHERM and not Flow-3D.

You probably won't get any answers here.

but how to use it further, as in cfd post a new plane or point is defined with respect to global coordinates?

Hi Rishabh,

Yes, the selected coordinate system is only valid for the parameters, not the position of the reference points or object you select.
You will need to specify the points at the location based on the global coordinate system or define it on a reference plane or so, depending on what you are trying to do.
Feel free to suggest it as an enhancement with the development via the IDEAS Website of Mentor if you are using FloEFD.
