Hi, may I know the reasons why filling and solidification processes in flow 3D are not encouraged to be run in one simulation?

Thanks a lot.

It's mostly for computational efficiency. The flow field in most die castings during the solidification process is pretty quiet, so you can skip the flow calculations during the solidification stage (reducing the run time) by modeling it in two steps.
