Creating 2D clip in arbitrary direction
 

Hi there,

When post-processing my simulation in Flowsight I want to create several 2D clips to showcase the velocity contours at different sections. When the 2D clips are parallel to the coordinate axises (X, Y, Z) there's no problem, but if I create an inclined plane and then try to generate the 2D clip using it, the clip is generated, but I can only see the outline of the isosurface I'm using for it (it looks hollow).

Has anyone experienced something similar?

It sounds like you're creating a clip of the iso-surface. That will indeed result in just an outline of the isosurface where the clip plane intersects it since an isosurface is a hollow surface.

To create an arbitrary clip similar to what you have found with the orthogonal clipping tool, click on the "Create 2D Clips" button (it looks like a scissors) and then select the Arbitrary planes radio button under Creation. You can select the mesh blocks with which you want to create the slice in under the Case dropdown. The Tool should be selected as Plane. You'll see the plane on which the contour will be created in the display. You can orient the plane by rotating/moving it or you can right click on its origin and select Modify to edit its properties. Select the Color by variable and then click Create.

Once the contour is created you can hide the solid components or gas region by right clicking on the contour and selecting Transparency, Advanced Transparency.

Note that the edges of arbitrary contours are stairstepped, unlike the orthogonal clips.
