Inflow-Outflow

I was wondering if someone could throw some light on inflow-outflow problem in a CFD study. I understand that fluid motion is caused by a pressure gradient. What is the driving force in case of an inflow-outflow problem if not the pressure gradient ?

Thanks n regards

gravity? But serioously, having an inflow and outflow BC without defining pressure gradient or flow rate is not a well posed problems. The result may depend on the initial condtions and/or numerical options used in the simulation.
