Is the problem in the small time step size? Try using the implicit heat transfer solver, imphtc=1. Also, I would use a the constant viscosity model, IFVISC=1, instead of the temperature or strain rate dependent. Another question, do you think turbulence is important in such small scales?

It will affect the results, such as stomatal...
