How to calculate surface charge density in Flow-3D?

Hi guys,

We are trying to simulate an electro-spray and have finished model building. In the post-processing step, we want to calculate the surface charge density of the Taylor cone and the jet. However, I'm not sure how Flow-3D calculate this value?

In both Restart Data and Selected Data, there are electric charge density output. But we don't know what is this value referring to. Is this value the charge density of the whole volume? How is it calculated in Flow-3D? Hope someone point me to the right direction. Thanks sincerely.

The charge displayed includes the surface change. It is computed per unit volume though. Perhaps, this tech note can help: http://www.flow3d.com/pdfs/tn/FloSci-TN70.pdf
