Dear forum,

I am modeling particle combustion in power stations, swirl stabilized suspensionfiring. But I am having trouble establishing particle ignition.

My approach has (roughly) been:
  1. Establish cold flow - no particle injection
  2. patch a high temperature throughout the domain
  3. run 1 iteration with the DPM model enabled, enusring enough tries for all particles to evaporate or escape, and with the underrelaxation factor for the discrete phase set to 1. This should genreate all the gaseous source terms needed to maintain high gas phase temperature.

But this is where I run into problems. When I run the single iteration with the particles, the domain cools down below devolatilization temperature, and the process stops.

Any tips or tricks are welcome.

I am using species transport with the eddy-dissipitation mech.
Devolatilization rate set to single first order, with default kinetics.
In the ieger to obtain ignition, I have underestimated the particle diameter.

Best regards,

Joakim
