VOF modeling

Hi everyone,

I am simulating a 3D domain in which water is filling the tank(initially filled with air) through a pipe using VOF and turbulence non-isothermal unsteady modeling without any mass transfer. My solution is converging only at time step size of 10e-9.

Is it okay to take such a small time step? Whether I should use explicit or implicit formulation for VOF? I have to track interface between air and water.

Please let me know if you need more information.

If your mesh is so fine you will have convergence problem
And implicit is faster to achieving convergence
Try to lower the URF values also
Good luck

Sorry for late response. I am using conjugate domain as I have to check outer wall temperature and avg mesh size is 0.9e-2. Is it ok or I have to make it coarser. Max skewness is 0.83 and min ortoganality is 0.2

How export a profile data in specified section at every time in Fluent ?

Hello everyone, I simulate an open channel flow with VOF model, the simulation is unsteady, so the free surface deforms in time, I would like plot this fluctuation in a specific location, for this I must export a volume fraction profile in this location at every time.
Thanks in advance.
