Crystal agglomeration

Hi,

I am having some problems regarding the agglomeration of crystals during crystallisation and seeking for your helps here.
I tried including the Lou model and the turbulence model for crystal agglomeration in my crystallisation of Kcl from aqueous solution; the results were unreasonable when compared with the crystallisation without the agglomeration I ran before. (size was smaller and the total number was larger)

Then, I tried enabling the Reaction (in the Phase interaction, under the Multiphase section) and set the transfer from crystal to crystal, thinking it would be quite similar to cases where I have reaction from solute to crystals before. However, the solution did not converge.

Please give some thought on the problems if you have any idea.

Thank you all!

Hi, I'm trying to learn the crystallization now, do you have any tutorial for me ?? thank you ~~

Crystallization and Crystal agglomeration

What type of crystallization process are you studying? Crystallization can be done using solidification-melting model or using Population Balance Model. Search for tutorials related to these two models.

Population balance model will be great. Thank you~

Tutorial

I am afraid I do not have any tutorial files for any thing. However, I am sure there are plenty of those online. If you face issue with setup or convergence or post-processing or results interpretation, you can certainly get response from Forum but as far as files are concerned, I won't be able to comment.

sure, thank you. I just saw the PBM tutorial, includes only those steps necessary for the population balance model itself; but it need to set up other models, boundary conditions, and so on by myself. I'm trying to find a full tutorial.

Look for species transport and Eulerian multiphase tutorials. You would require species transport to model K and Cl and multiphase to model its various phases and agglomeration.

Thanks, I will try.
