Water filtration
Hello everyone
I am new in simulation I need help to simulate water filtration in rotating cylindrical membrane Can anyone help me please? |
Type of filtration
There are multiple types of water filtration. Which one is it that you are interested in?

I want to simulate filtration of water and sand mixture in cylindrical rotating membrane (Taylor-Couette system)

Cylindrical Membrane?
If the membrane is cylindrical, simplest option would be to consider the membrane as a wall. Use DPM for particles and escape condition at the membrane for DPM. Do note if the particle volume fraction is more than 10%, you will have to use dense phase DPM.

Membrane
It would be expected that you have the answer to that since you are trying to simulate the filtration. For a simple scenario, since it is water and sand, the membrane could be a sieve with size smaller than the sand particles. But then you do not need a rotation; you can just pour the water over the filter and collect the water in a container below. The process could certainly be continuous.
So, the rotational system would only be required if you design a membrane that allows sand particles to pass through but stop the water. The explanation I shared earlier pertains to this system. |
