High-Storage for Disk-Space with Fluent Data
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone,
I am dealing with the VOF model with multiple inlets and multiple outlets. I have given 4000 iterations and an Auto-save option with 5 iterations per each time. It occupied a space of 1.75TB(Terra Bytes), which is too high for disk-space. Please share your ideas and suggestions if possible? Thank you Kolkundi Rajesh |
Intermediate Files
Five iterations per time-step may be too less for convergence. As far as files are concerned, the frequency for automatic saving is decided by user. You should save files every 50 or 100 time-steps, depending upon what the time-step value is. By default, Fluent saves every time-step. With 100, the total space requirement will reduce 100 times. Better option is to save .cdat file, i.e., CFD Post Compatible Files. Those are quite small in size.

Hello Vinerm,
Thanks for the reply. If it is possible by words, Can you please explain how to create .cdat file? And the auto-save is the only reason to get this storage problem or else there are also other reasons to consider? Have a good day Raj |
cdat and auto-save
To write CFDPost compatible files (.cdat), you need to use File > Export > During Calculation. You can also access it from Calculation Activities.
As far as storage is concerned, you have to check which directory is using most space. If you save data every time-step, then it is sure that Fluent files will fill your drive. |
