Hi guys, am new here. I would like to conduct a series of simulation of high pressure water jets into air with a fan nozzle angled at various angles to look at the primary breakup (fan angle) as well as the flow trajectory. I plan to start with a 2D analysis. My inlet velocity is in the range of approximately 140 m/s and outlet is 0 gauge pressure with atmospheric operating pressure.

Currently I am looking at multiphase VOF model to capture the interface between water and air with surface tension modelling and turbulence modeled with standard k-epsilon. however, I am unable to capture the desired variations in jet spray angle. So my question is really what dictates the spray angle in the vof analysis so that I am able to capture different spray angles. I did some research and it seems to be heavily tied to the nozzle geometry. but under cicumstances that i can not model the exact nozzle geometry, are there any thermodynamic properties which leads to this variation in spray angle that i can utilise in fluent?

Also, I am using the student version so I am limited in the number of cells in my model. will it greatly affect the solution of the spray angle?
