Hello,

my job is to investigate transient effects within a pulverized fuel combustion case.
My previous approach was to start from a converged steady state case, switch to transient and just let the simulation run. The problem is, as the domain is very large, it takes an awful amount of time steps until the domin is filled up with particles and a "steady state" is reached. I am not interested in the initial ignition.

Is there an efficient way to initialize particles (position, velocity, mass, diameter, volatile component etc.) in a transient simulation? I read about initializing from a file, but that seemingly does not allow all necessary parameters.

Thank you for your advice!

Regards
Benni

You are right, when solving reacting dpm cases in Fluent, it looks like only the non-reacting properties can be used in the file-injection (see pic). This is a problem that I have faced as well.
As of now, at least this metthod is better than injecting the particles from the inlet and waiting for them unitl they travel all throughout the domain.
