parallel processing

hi,im doing a transient problem in fluent,my time step is 0.0005,in order to reach the periodic state i have to simulate it in 250s ,(number of time steps=500000 and 30 iteration per cycle),i used my laptop in both serial and parallel(with 4 and 8 processors),but the speed is the same,using parallel processing doesnt get me any time advantage over serial ,so is this true?or im missing something,i should note that my mesh is light(4757 nodes),so i wonder if someone can help me,

I would think that with 4757 nodes, there is little benefit from parallel processing. The cores will spend more time communicating with each other than doing actual calculations.
