UDF for particle injection using file

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All!!

It is usually required to initialize static bed domain with particles in fluidized bed multiphase simulations. Mostly users ask about particle initialization of particles but there is no proper answer to their question.

I was wondering how a udf could be written for file injection.
Here I tried to sort out this problem and coded a udf using the logic given in initialization example provided in ansys udf guide. where this logic was utilized to initialize temprature field in the domain.

Can any one here please debug udf if any and improve the udf.?

Before this I found a way to write injection file by the suggestion of Mr. Daniele [ghost82].
In macroscopic particle model addon module in ansys fluent 17 there is a provision to create volume injection (cylinder/box).

These steps were followed:

In ansys 17.0 activate macroscopic particle model.
After turning on Macroscopic model (MPM)
created an injection and set for volume injection.
now initialize in MPM panel.
Fluent prompt will show # particles created.
Now, display injection in the MPM panel.

this will copy injection particle data to Discrete model injection.

Go to Graphics-->particle track panel
Here select option reporting--> current position in left bottom of the panel
and write to file. Now you have a filename.his file in your working directory.

Import that filename.his into excel and follow the instruction given by the post

This is a long way but really works in 3D fluent cases surely.

Hi Shahjehan,

I've found your post when i'm searching a way to initiate a static bed domain in fluidized bed. I've tried your suggestion to enable Macroscopic model (MPM) but it is only available in 3D model.
Is there any other methods than the MPM ?

Regards,
Ham Xing

Dear Shahjehan
I can see your question is from March. Did you get an answer?
