Hello All,
I am interested in simulating problems relating supercritical fluids (single phase, near the critical point) using ANSYS-FLUENT V16. The thermo-physical properties are a strong function of fluid pressure and temperature near this state. So, I plan to provide either a surface fit or a 2D Table look-up in the form of x = f(p, T); where x is the thermo-physical property in question.

In the past, I have used user-defined variable properties (density, viscosity, thermal conductivity, specific heat, drho/dp etc.) with ESI CFD-ACE+ (a SIMPLEC based solver). Not sure, how it's done (if possible at all) in FLUENT. I have checked the CFD-Online forum for this issue, but it appears to me that there is an issue related to specifying the specific heat.

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Currently i am working with something very similar too. Trying to implement Chung et al. method for viscosity and thermal conductivity with high pressure effects in mixtures as UDF.

Method is pretty straight forward for single component i presume, since there would be no "mixture rules" required.

Chung et al. method is widely used for supercritical fluid simulations. But note that it would require to include density and the constant volume specific heat in the model, so you need to call them from FLUENT somehow.

Regards.
