Lightbulb UDF for moving a solid 3mm in -x direction

I am new to UDFs.
I am working on a torque converter. I want to apply the torque converter clutch. For that, I need to move the friction plate 3mm.
I tried using 1DOF translational but I cannot stop it after traveling 3mm.
So now, I am planning to use 6 DOF.
Also, what macro is there to stop the displacement after a certain distance?
I could not find it.
