CURRENT_TIMESTEP nonzero in steady-state analysis

Hi all,

I am running a steady-state simulation in Ansys Fluent, in which I have simple rectangular 2D axisymmetric domain. I prescribe a constant velocity at the inlet, wall is no-slip and rigid and at the outlet I use a 2-element Windkessel model via an UDF.

After running some simulations and printing the value of CURRENT_TIMESTEP (using Message command in UDF) to my console window, I observe that its value is nonzero. Using both the COUPLED and SIMPLE solver it says CURRENT_TIMESTEP = 1. CURRENT_TIME is indeed zero.

Could someone further elaborate on why CURRENT_TIMESTEP is nonzero in steady state simulation?

Thanks in advance!
