Simulation of a moving airfoil in Fluent
I want to simulate a moving 2D airfoil with unsteady motion. It's path is sinusoidal, and I need to use an O-type mesh.
The problem is that I do not really know how should I start this simulation, and which features of fluent I need to learn?
I have heard that I should use UDF. Is it right?
Please give me advices.

Well, I think you could try with DEFINE_GRID_MOTION. Once I programmed an UDF to define a belt motion (3D) using this macro, and I am almost sure that you can use it for your 2D case also. You just have to define a sliding interface between the stationary and the moving zones, activate dynamic mesh option in fluent, create a dynamic mesh zone for you moving region, set it to user-defined and apply your udf.

Thank you so much, I will follow up with your advice, and special thanks for the pic,

Good Luck
