Hi guys,

I am trying to model turbulent axisymmetric flow.
My approach is to draw half of the geometry and create a named selection (axis) to specify where I want the symmetry.

My approach is to specify the 2D space to be axis symmetric and use axis boundary condition. However, this has failed. Is this the correct approach?

I think you are doing wrong. This case is not axi-symmetric but looks like planer.

I suggest rename axis with symmetry and run the case.

is it circular geometry?

if not, then follow my suggestion.

You cannot change the default axis for an axissymmetric setup in Fluent. Your axis can only be the Fluent default. In other words, you cannot choose an axis or choose where you want symmetry. That may be your problem. I believe the default is the x-axis, centered at y=0 and z=0 (check it on Fluent manual to be sure).

It worked when I drew it using x-axis as symmetry!

However I have realised that it may be incorrect, I am studying the circulation past the bluff body and each side has an effect on each other...
