Writing data file for specified variables

Hello friends,

I am doing a transient simulation on a large mesh resulting in large data files. Is there any way to reduce data files size.

The only quantities that I need are velocity and pressure, However fluent write many others which are of no use for me and I could not dis-select the default variables in data file quantities window.

Please help me. my thesis depends on this simulation an I really can not handle such huge amount of data.

Thanks in advance.

Someone told me that there must be a way to write a UDF in order to specify variables to write. Does anyone know how to do this? I want my .dat file be connected to .cas file with less variable.

SO the question is how to write a output file (with UDF maybe) with the same format as the original fluent data file which is connected to the corresponding case file ?
Thanks.

Maybe writing an interpolation-file (file/interpolate) will do the trick for you. Test it for a given solution-time and if it works fine (check if your velocity and pressure fields are the same as in the corresponding .dat) use a macro to save an interpolation file at specified intervals during the simulation.

cheers
