Rotating Mesh for a HAWT
Dear everyone,
i'm working on a horizontal axis wind turbine in fluent. I have a 3 blade rotor geometry to model (without any other component interfeerence such as the tower). I'm going to mesh a cylindrical 3D domain. The question is: what is the correct approach to model the flow? i'm thinking about using the functionality explained in the user's manual ''10.modeling flows in mooving reference frames'' by setting a rotation axis and a rotational speed in the cell zone conditions menu, within the fluid dialog box enabling the ''frame motion'' option. I wonder if this is a good way of modeling my problem. In addition: what is the difference between using a mooving frame and a mooving mesh in this case? Thank you for helping. R. |
Yes you can solve it like that or you can use dynamic mesh but dynamic mesh option is more complicated.
You may have 2 domains which includes the rotor and this domain will rotate. |
