Rotating Mesh for a HAWT

Dear everyone,

i'm working on a horizontal axis wind turbine in fluent.

I have a 3 blade rotor geometry to model (without any other component interfeerence such as the tower).

I'm going to mesh a cylindrical 3D domain.

The question is: what is the correct approach to model the flow?

i'm thinking about using the functionality explained in the user's manual ''10.modeling flows in mooving reference frames'' by setting a rotation axis and a rotational speed in the cell zone conditions menu, within the fluid dialog box enabling the ''frame motion'' option.

I wonder if this is a good way of modeling my problem. In addition: what is the difference between using a mooving frame and a mooving mesh in this case?

Thank you for helping.

R.

Yes you can solve it like that or you can use dynamic mesh but dynamic mesh option is more complicated.

You may have 2 domains which includes the rotor and this domain will rotate.
