Hello Everybody,

I have two porous surfaces - one on top of another with a certain small distance between them. One of them is horizontal with a certain porosity while another is inclined with another porosity. I would like to use a single porous jump condition for modeling both surfaces with no gap between them.

I was wondering if there was any way of combining the two porous surfaces into an equivaluent surface. For modeling in FLUENT this becomes a two part question, I believe:

1. How can the equivalency with respest to geometry be established? and
2. How can the pressure drop vs. velocity correlation be combined?

I hope I have been clear with my intended calculations but please let me know if further clarifications are needed. I think that there should be a method of doing this, as I think that this is an oft encountered problem.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi mali28,

Thanks for your reply and the links. While these links are useful, my question is more about using a single equivalent porous jump condition to simulate two porous surfaces separated by a small distance. In other words, how can we model the geometry and pressure drop correlation, if we have two porous surfaces stacked on each other, with a single porous jump condition in FLUENT?
