Heat Generation Rate

Dear All,


When I define “Heat Generation Rate (W/m3)” in boundary condition type of wall, and I have fluid cells in one side of the wall, is the defined “Heat Generation Rate” considered for one side of the wall (that I define fluid cells) or for both sides of it?

Dear Sagila,
heat generation doesn't happen in a surface it do happens in a volume as it is obvious from its dimenion:w/M^3
consider Q(DOT)=10 WATT that accurs in a tube with Di=10 cm , Do=20cm ,L=1m
here heat generation rate equals:10/v
v=pi/4 (Do^2 - Di^2)*L
so as mentioned before it happens in the mantle of tube and both sides of tube(inside which is in contact with fluid and the outside of tube)allow the heat flux to pass.

hi misagh,


But what if I have a contact between two bodies and friction as a result (eg brake disc and pad). Then the heat is generated on the interface, not in the body. How can I solve that?
