I have an open channel with some inclination i.e. negative slope.
I have done its modelling as well as meshing.
In fluent, i have done following operations-
(1) General- Pressure based solver and steady flow
Model- volume of fluid, checked open channel flow and body implicit force
(2) checked energy equation
(3) selected k-epsilon model
(4) Phases- primary phase- water
secondary phase- air
(5) Boundary conditions-
for velocity inlet: in momentum, for mixture, i have given zero gauge pressure and zero velocity. Also i have given hydraulic intensity 10% and hydraulic diameter A/P.
for pressure outlet: same as that for velocity inlet
Symmetry walls: default conditions
(6) Solution method- PISO
and all default conditions

Is there something else which i am missing because i am not getting the correct velocity profile although pressure profile which i am getting, is correct to be linear?
Please help me. Its an urgent.

What ever is the volume fraction of water, i am getting the same velocity profile against depth, how this can be possible?

  • Only the heavier phase should be selected as the secondary phase.
Check the 26.3.2 page in user guide.
