New user. University final year project using ANSYS FLUENT.

Hello everyone this is my first post on this site, iv been a member for a dew days now and from browsing the forum its clear to say there are some very well educated people in the CFD field!

I am a final year mechanical engineering student studying in the United Kingdom and my project is to do with optimisation of a sediment transport pipeline. I will be using ansys fluent for the first time and I have been to a few extra sessions to get a basic understanding of how it works.

So far I have done a project background check explaining what slurry is and some characteristics and properties of slurry transport. I am now going to begin my ansys testing on a straight pipe. I will need to calibrate my meshing first and then I will attempt to minimize pressure drop by looking at flow velocity, pipe diameter and also slurry mixture ratio.

I dont wish to backbite but my tutor is unwilling to help me and keeps brushing me and his other final year project students off to phd students at the university and I wish to do the best that I can.

Like I said I am a complete beginner and any help or guidance as to how to approach it or topics to cover in my dissertation will be much appreciated.

Thank you very much for any advice/guidance in advance

Sami

Nobody can shed any light to help me with this? Or is there something I have missed out that I should be telling you?
