Hi everyone,

I am trying to use a permeable surface to calculate acoustic signal using FW-H equation in Fluent. I read Fluent help and I created an named internal surface in ICEM when meshing, and I think I had followed the steps exactly to use the interior surface as permeable one.

However, I met several problems that I can't figure them out by myself after tried many times. These problems are:

1. Under parallel mode, after I chose the interior surface as noise source and Fluent always reported error "Node X: Process XXXX: Received signal SIGSEGV" at the end of first time step (please see the attached screenshot 1.).

2. I thought this problem maybe caused by the parallel calculation, so I ran a serial case. Unfortunately, an error "received a fatal signal (Segmentation fault)" (attached screenshot 2).

3. Realizing the interior surface couldn't work all the time, I tried to set up interface (also created by ICEM) as permeable surface. Now no error any more, but the output acoustic signals are apparently wrong that they are quite constant. Actually the acoustic signals should be fluctuating just like when using impermeable surface as source.

So, maybe I am not using permeable FW-H equation in the right way. If anyone can help me figure out how to use permeable surface in Fluent? Many thanks!

Im having this exact issue. If i set my interior surface as "interior" boundary type I get a SIGSEV error. I might try to make it a permeable surface, but Im afraid that this might cause my pressure and thus my acoustics to be discontinuous across it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, how did you overcome the trouble that you mentioned above, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
