Hello everyone, I am working on a final year project at university and it is related to the flow of a slurry mixture in a straight pipe. I was just wondering how small should my mesh sizing be? We have no guidance as to how small or where to start from?

From what I understand I should keep reducing the mesh size until there is less than 2% difference between the head loss after running the solutions....but I just don't know where to start the mesh sizing from and how to justify using that figure.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Sami

As the simulation result would not change by refining mesh.

It is always reccomended to do a Grid Independance Study for any simulations.

Hi Sami,

If you are asking about the starting ...

according to the model that you use:

1- the recommended range of wall Y+ will help you to estimate the first mesh size.
2- play on the range of mesh size incremental ratio keeping the first cell size.

read more about your model.

GOOD LUCK
