Hi,

I am trying to set up a sliding mesh for a bevel gear in icem and fluent.

does anyone know how to access the mesh interfaces in fluent?

Hi Ludvig,,
Im nt sure abt procedures in ICEM,,

In Workbench Meshing tool We usually name those interfaces zones with required name while meshing..
And while Defining it in Fluent >mesh interfaces> define the interface by selecting source and target faces..
One can define appropriate conditions like periodic, coupled wall etc..
Define mesh motion in Cell zone conditions,, i hope you know this one.
Can also refer to Fluent manuals/help files..

Hi Gowrav,

I am just struggling with creating the interfaces in icem.

Can not seem to find any good material as to how to do it in icem.

any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Hi Ludvig,

I'm having a similar problem with interfaces in Fluent. I managed to create the interfaces in icem by creating a part for each one and then splitting the mesh using the split internal wall function. This then creates another part with the same name and suffix "_back". When outputting the .msh file I also set the boundary conditions of my two corresponding mesh parts to interface but this can be done in fluent.

This may not be the best way to go about doing this (as it's not fool proof - see http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...em-fluent.html) and I would appreciate any advice from other group members or yourself if you have already solved your problem.

Thanks
Tom

I am working on Effect of wind pressure on electricity poles along the train track lines induced by the movement of high speed trains. I have created my train model and the electricity poles. I created the first boundary condition which contains only the train model and I also created the second boundary condition that contains both the first boundary condition and the electricity poles. I used this method because the train is in the dynamic region (sliding mesh) while the electricity poles are on the static region. I created two inlets and outlets with respect to the two boundary conditions am using.
My question: I want to implement sliding mesh but I did not see mesh interface in the setup tree and my structured mesh didn't fail. How can i activate the mesh interface in my fluent model?
Thanks
