Hi
I am trying to simulate a simple hydroturbine (2D) and I have some basic questions about it: 1) In this case turbine rotated by water and i don't know even approximately turbine's rate of rotation. So first goal of my simulation is to define it. From forum i know that there are few ways to solve such problem but i've not found any tutorials or help topic or some recomendations. Can somebody help me, maybe by posting links or etc? 2 ) Is it correct, when i want to define turbine's rate of rotation in the first simulation and then simulated a process with fixed number of revolution of turbine? look forward to your help! |

Good Attempt, I appreciate your way thinking started from real physical aspect.
To can get an idea about CFD modeling of flow in compressor /turbine. Pls check CFX Turotial-4. Flow in an Axial Rotor/Stator |

how i know, using this tutorial we should specify a rate of rotation. But I don't know this parametre and my goal is to define it |

Well, since it's a turbine, isn't its rotational speed something an effect, rather than a cause? How about simulating a transient simulation by defining water flow rate etc and letting the software find it out? It would be a motion simulation though, and hence tricky.

And if we use another way - assume a speed and work out the torque. Sweep over a range of speeds and find the point where torque equals the output load (c) ghorrocks -http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/cfx/87150-wind-turbine-rotation-baldes.html
How find the point, where torque equals the output load? |
