First you have to use Gambit to define domain and the airfoil. Then mesh it. If this is difficult, then use CAD product (AutoCAD) create profile, convert it into a region an export as a ACIS file. Import that file in Gambit and mesh it. That's it.

To Giuseppe: First of all you have to create closed line. Then Use command "region", mark the contour and it is OK. Go to File menu, Export.... Files of type - > I think second option is ACIS (*.sat) That's it!

OK philipov. Another question: when I import my file.sat in Gambit, how can I translate the design in a specific point? For example, if I have create a rectangle, how can I make to coincide a vertex of this with origin of axes (x,y)?

Thank you

The imported object has one of the highest topology - face! Then use Face command button -> Muve/Copy Faces. Pick the face and enter the desired operation.

Philipov, excuse me still for the disturbance, but if I want to translate all the design and not only one face of it, how can I translate the origin of coordinates system in a specific point?

No problem ..we are here to help eachother. If you want to translate all objects - select all and then apply translation. If you want more information - write to

Give me an e-mail address to send you a picture from which you can see. 1.Go to VERTEX Command Button 2.Press the button that is on the second row, second button from right to left. Its name is "i". 3.Mark the vertex and press Apply

The easiest way is to download an already prepared mesh. Log on http://www.studentfluent.com/ then click on the mesh library. Enjoy the tutorials too.

What if I am using ANSYS FLUENT and Solidworks? Saving as ACIS and importing to design modeler is not working..

Can any one throw some light on this ??
