coupled solver for heat exchanger

hai, thanks for ur time...

im simulating heat exchanger. can i use coupled solver?
as from user guide, it says; can use large time step size... well im wondering what is the range of time step size can be used..

can i use up to 5 to 10 sec as time step size or more..??

Hi,

There is no general answer for long and short time steps.

If you have an heat exchanging process and you want to know what's happening in the first 1 mm ouf your solid fan, radiator or.... you may need very short time step sizes.

If you are only interested in your stationary final value then a transient case isn't needed (if the model fits).

It is a compromise on calculation time, exactness and your personal requirements.

In simple cases you can run a simulation at two time step sizes and compare the results...
