JTDN is on a distinguished road
Hi everyone,

I'm running a 2D transient simulation for a vertical axis wind turbine, and every time I create a "filled" animation for the contours of vorticity or pressure, the system tells me it has low virtual memory and crashes, despite my computer having 24Gb of Ram. Is that normal? Or am I missing something?

I was thinking it might be because the animation is being plotted "live" as the solver is working, do you know if there is a way to write it to a file without plotting it live?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Far, thanks for the rep.

Yes I have over 1TB of free space so it's certainly not the issue... It's definitely a ram issue, when i look at processes in the task manager i see fluent using 23gb out of the 24gb of ram available...

Then don't animate in real time (on screen) and just save the files and at the end of simulation, you will be able to make the movie clip of whole process.

Yes that's what i thought, but i don't know how to set it up without the real-time animation... any hints?

blackmask will become famous soon enough
For 2D simulation, you can auto save the data file at a prescribed frequency, and make an animation later. You can use TECPLOT to visualize your data for better control of image quality.
