How to remove aluminum materials to leave just a body of fluid

Hello,
I am using ANSYS Fluent to try to model (2D) the migration of CO2 from a saline aquifer to the ocean above. It consists of a layer of CO2 then a small fault through the earth's crust up to the ocean. I have modelled it as a microchannel, however Fluent is automatically assigning aluminium as the material for the surface of the model. I have patched CO2 to the area of the model I want it and the same with water. The ocean is basically modeled as a tank, as is the saline aquifer, however the ocean and saline aquifer, along with the fault should not be encased by aluminum. I would ideally like to remove aluminum from the materials and have the model as just a body of fluid. Is this possible? If not I am choosing the correct way of modelling this situation? |

I think a materials is needed as the boundary in Fluent, you can assign another material, but not delete it.

Hi!
I think that if you compute only fluid dynamics with smooth walls it doesn't matter what solid material you have. But you have to change its properties if you compute heat transfer from solid to fluid and vice versa. "I would ideally like to remove aluminum from the materials and have the model as just a body of fluid" You can remove wall boundary conditions and assign new ones if you don't want to have the ocean inside a tank. Thank-you for your replies. I wonder whether you could advise me if I could make a sort of 'composite' structure with multiple layers instead of just one body with Fluent. As the earth's crust has many layers which I want to replicate in more detail.
