Hi all,

I'm presently working on analyzing the motion of hidrodynamic journal bearing using CFD. I have followed the steps that given in the journals written by C.A. Papadopoulos and G. Descombes. However, it appeared that my results are different from their work. Instead of having the negative pressure at the opposite face of positive pressure, the negative pressure just beside the positive. Are there anything wrong with my boundary condition? I used laminar, isothermal, moving mesh for the journal and stationary wall for bearing shell. I also do not have any experience in using UDF to neglect the negative pressure and define the bearing motion. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

For boundary condition, the journal is defined as moving wall with determined angular velocity, the bearing and side surfaces are defined as stationary wall with constant temperature (300 K). Therefore, the condition of viscosity alteration by the changes of Temperature can be achieved. However, is it possible to set one of the side surface as the pressure outlet and the other side surface as pressure inlet as written by Papadopoulos in his paper? Beacause I still can not reach the convergence if I set the pressure at that both side surfaces with 0 Pa, it just kept saying that there is the reverse flow on the face. How can I fix this?

Hi all,

I'm new to Openfoan, and trying to model Elastohydrodynamics condition for point contact. I guess it should be similar to what you've done. Can you please send me your work so I have an idea how to start the modeling. Thanks.
