Hello,

I am simulating a partially premixed flame in fluent with premixed CH4+air mixture and pure-air as coflow. The experiment does not have a pilot for flame ignition hence I am trying to simulate a heat source that can act as an ignition source for the flame.

Can anybody let me know how I can do this? Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Hi Harshad,
Your reaction is the ignition source. In Fluent, you should define the reaction, turn the energy on and determine the reaction enthalpy.

Hi smhosseini,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I do define my boundary conditions and the appropriate reactions. The flame is not igniting. Actually in the experiments the flame would ignite only with the help of an igniter/propane torch kept on the base of the burner. To model the propane torch I was thinking of having a heat source in the mesh.

How can i model a heat source in the mesh?

Did you read Fluent user guide -> Modeling Partially Premixed Combustion?
