Arc simulation

Hello everyone, I am a french student and I will work on the electric arc simulation in a contactor DC in the Fluent software. I have a roughly geometry.
I'm not a pure scientifist but i have knowledges in magnetism, electrical
I will like to have the behaviour of electric arc in the contactor to compare with tests later.
What are the first questions that must be asked to guide its work to achieve its objective?
Sorry for my English
Cédric

My first question: Can Fluent solve Poisson's equation for the electric field in the arc? I didn't know Fluent can be used for plasma simulations.

Hi

It can. I did some welding arc simulations earlier this year. You can use the User Defined Scalar to solve the transport equations. However you need to provide some stuff by User Defined Functions which is IMHO always a little bit painful in Fluent.
