Hi!
I work catalytic reactions on surface
1-)I want to load noble metal like paladium, platinum etc. 50g/ft^3.
2-)Active noble metal surface 0.47m^2/g
3-)Surface ratio Pt(s)/Rh(s) 3/1
How can i load this parameter on fluent anoyone can help ?

Hi,
As far as I concerned, you can't import these data into your model directly. Instead, you can incorporate them into a parameter called specific surface area and then import it in your model as follows:

specific surface area =catalyst loading*surface area / thickness of the catalyst layer

This parameter must be in m2/m3 (1/m). Now, you can add it into your model.

Yes, i can't import anything directly. I try do manual everything as i can. I calculate specific surface area and then how can i add into my model?

Well, it sets in kinetic reaction. For volumetric reaction, you can import it directly using porous model. You know that the surface catalytic reaction must be modeled as porous media. So, as soon as you select the reaction , surface area option will be available in porous zone (surface to volume ratio). Now, you can active it.

Hi again

As you say specific surface area=g/m3*m2/m=g/m2 but we need m2/m3 (1/m). How can i do that? and can you get any resource paper about specific surface area =catalyst loading*surface area / thickness of the catalyst layer and can you look this image?
is this same as your formula or what is difference?

For the moment, I'm working on fuel cell and I use the aforementioned formula (I suggested) to calculate specific surface area. If you want to see an authentic paper regard this, sned your mail and I will send you the paper I mentioned. I already worked on monolith reactor which is actually a reactor where reaction takes place inside a porous media. I recall that I had the problem you have. I finally manged my problem but it was a few years ago and I can't remember correctly which formula I employed.

Catalyst loading and surface area for catalyst layer are defined as mg/cm^2 and cm^2/mg or units like that, respectively.
