Hi I want to create a very simple Cylinder radius 38.1mm and length 111.1 mm that compresses then expands to its original size.

I am stuggling on how to even start.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Jack

Hi Jack,

As your geometry is quite simple, you can create it directly on your meshing program (ICEM, gambit..), instead of generating it on a CAD software. There is no problem that you do not have inlets or outlets, just define the walls.
After uploading the mesh on fluent you can use the in-cylinder option, defining the stroke (through the crank radius) and the speed of the movement (through the crank shaft speed). Remember to take care about the clearance at the smallest volume position, otherwise you will have negative volumes during the mesh movement. There is a 2-D in-cylinder tutorial for fluent (internal combustion engine), which I recommend you take a look.

Hope it helps,

Mack
