My academic interest is coal gasification and combustion. Recently I use ANSYS FLUENT 14.0 to simulate the process of gasification and combustion. As the carbon conversion rate is low about 80% in the PDF model, so I decide to add the UDF of Heterogeneous reactions to the PDF model so that the conversion rate will be improved. However, to my confusion ,there are two Macos for heterogeneous reaction:DEFINE_HET_RXN_RATE and DEFINE_PR_RATE in the<<ansys fluent 14.0 UDF manual>>.As to the manual, the DEFINE_HET_RXN_RATE is used in the multiphase model, so it may be suit for fluidized bed because we usually use the Euler to Euler model to simulate it. But to Tecaxo gasifier which is belong to entrained flow gasifier, we usually Euler- Lagrangian method to simulate the reaction process. I use the DPM model to represent the coal particles. So my question is that whether the DEFINE_HET_RXN_RATE is suit for the Texaco? Somebody help me!
